I'm back! After sneaking in a rare blog hiatus, like Brett Favre, the regular retiree, I have returned to the Miami Dolphins blog.
To say what? Considering it's the?REAL offseason of the NFL's offseason, I have no idea. But I'm here, and will facilitate your Dolphins talk.
Let's start with my recent breakdown of How the Dolphins spent their offseason.
To breakdown the additions made to?the roster?I'll put them in order of importance.
1. The Dolphins landed a more physical center in Jake Grove, which should drastically help the offensive line open up running lanes.
2. The Dolphins got younger at safety, signing Gibril Wilson, a coveted strong safety from the 2008 free agent class, and let Renaldo Hill go to Denver. But can Wilson play free safety effectively, leading the secondary.
3. The Dolphins acquired two young, and big cornerbacks by drafting Vontae Davis and Sean Smith, and added veteran?Eric Greenfor insurance, but lost a proven starter in Andre' Goodman.
4. The Dolphins picked up a large defensive end in Tony McDaniel, but lost a more polished and proven pass rusher when they released Vonnie Holliday.
5. The Dolphins added two young and tall receiver in Patrick Turner and Brian Hartline, two early second day picks.
6. The Dolphins added a Wildcat quarterback in Pat White, who scares the rest of the NFL, and could potentially open up more of the offense.7. Cameron Wake and Tearrius George, two CFL transplants, were added to potentially beef up the pass rushing. But both should be considered projects at outside linebacker. That's about it. Those are the real significant additions to the roster, and to be honest there were few. But?was it?enough to get Miami back to the playoffs?
Truth is this regime targeted just about every weak spot on the roster, but will that be enough to beat the Ravens, which were clearly more physical than the Dolphins twice last season?
Let's move onto what the organization has to say about all the additions.
Jorge Sedano is talking with Tony Sparano TODAY, 9 a.m.,?right now, on 790 AM.
On Sedano's show Sparano said they plan to revisit the possible?addition of Jason Taylor after they see what they have in OTAs.
Joe Rose talked to Sparano yesterday, and you can listen to that discussion here.
If you scroll down, far down on the WQAM interview scroll, I'm on there somewhere talking about rookie camp.
