Miami Dolphins Notes, Quotes 2009-05-04
--Of the 10 players drafted by the Cam Cameron-Randy Mueller regime in

'07, only receiver Ted Ginn Jr., defensive tackle Paul Soliai and punter Brandon Fields remain on the team.

--The Dolphins signed nine college free agents this week including: Purdue DE Ryan Baker, Central Washington TE Jared Bronson, Shaw NT Louis Ellis, Stanford RB Anthony Kimble, Oregon G Mark Lewis, Tulsa WR Brennan Marion, Houston TE SirVincent Rogers, New Mexico St. WR Chris Williams.

--Fifth-round TE John Nalbone was so excited when he received the phone call from VP of football operations Bill Parcells that his cousin wrote a blog and said Nalbone told the former Cowboys coach how excited he was being a long-time Cowboys fan and how getting the shot to play for America's team meant the world to him. Maybe he was thinking of another tight end from New Jersey on the Dolphins, ex-Cowboy Anthony Fasano.

--NT Paul Soliai said this week that he was, "nervous," watching the draft because he didn't want the Dolphins to select another nose tackle to compete with him for the backup job behind Jason Ferguson.

"I was nervous. Everybody's nervous they don't bring in more guys to compete for your job," said Soliai, who only had three tackles last year while serving two separate suspensions for violating team rules. A day after Soliai said this, the Dolphins signed undrafted nose tackle Louis Ellis of Shaw.

--Rookie QB Pat White will certainly push RB Ronnie Brown for the linchpin role in the Wildcat, but he said he's open for anything.

"I fit fairly well in the Wildcat, so I hope that is my quickest way onto the field. ... I am excited to see how they can utilize my talent."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I didn't want to leave Miami and the Dolphins knew that. I love coach Tony Sparano and Bill Parcells. And if I didn't play for my linebackers coach George Edwards, I'd probably get kicked out of the league with all my crazy stuff he has to deal with." -- Dolphins LB Channing Crowder on why he settled for just a three-year deal the night before free agency hit instead of a four- or five-year deal that he could've gotten from other interested teams.
