--The Dolphins nearly blew their record-tying achievement of having the fewest turnovers in league history (13). They put the ball on the ground three times Sunday, but only one was lost. That said, LS John Denny's high snap was ruled a fumble, and it set up a go-ahead touchdown by the Jets. While not officially a turnover because it was recovered by the Dolphins, it sure felt like one. The 2008 Giants also finished with 13 turnovers, as both teams surpassed the 1990 Super Bowl-winning Giants, who were led by Bill Parcells.
"We pride ourselves on playing smart, tough, disciplined football and making sure that we don't beat ourselves," QB Chad Pennington said. "But the best thing is our players have taken ownership of it, and as players and as a team, you have to take ownership of your responsibilities and what you're being asked to do, and all of our guys have done that."
Pennington finished the season with just seven interceptions, and his only lost fumble came on Sunday.
--The Dolphins, winners of nine of their last 10, tied the 1999 Indianapolis Colts for the greatest single-season turnaround in NFL history. The Colts went from 3-13 to 13-3 in Peyton Manning's second season. Miami went from 1-15 to 11-5.
"I feel like a champion, LB Joey Porter said."We did everything they said we couldn't do. We went from 1-15 to where we're at right now, on top of the AFC East, and we're hosting a home playoff game. It's a huge turnaround. We went from the outhouse to the penthouse just like that, overnight, and we've put in the work since March. We've been out here grinding since March, and it's always good to see your hard work pay off."
--QB Chad Pennington notched a 113.2 passer rating, the fourth consecutive game he went over 100 and the eighth of the season.
"I told you, man. He was our savior," LB Joey Porter said. "They talk about everybody else being the MVP and just overlooking him. They overlooked him in the Pro Bowl, too. But if you look at what this guy did, he changed this whole team. Look at today. He totally outplayed Brett Favre. He did it all year."
