Miami Dolphins Notes, Quotes
--LB Quentin Moses has moved from defensive end to outside linebacker because of his athleticism. "He was probably a great basketball player in high school. He's in a two-point stance, which is a little bit different for him right now and there's always a little bit of a transition going from a three-point to a two-point, but he's handled it very well. He seems to have good vision, he seems to see things well, he seems to be fairly comfortable and smooth in the coverage in transition," said defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni.

--LB Joey Porter played in Jason Taylor's outside linebacker spot during OTA days and minicamp practices while Taylor was competing on Dancing with the Stars. "Joey's not working in anybody else's spot," said Dolphins defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni. "The biggest difference between coaching at the collegiate level and coaching in the NFL is the commitment and the amount of time you have to spend rushing the passer. ... With the frequency of passing being as high as it is in this league right now, you've got to be ready to go on every down. That's something every player on our team has got to work on."

--CB Will Allen is being sued by his former agency -- CAA -- which alleges Allen failed to make payment on a settlement agreement made earlier this year. Allen allegedly did not pay agent Tom Condon and his agency commissions due on his salary, signing bonus and incentive bonuses for the four-year contract signed with the Dolphins in 2006. Allen allegedly agreed to pay CAA Sports $195,500 in fees so an arbitration hearing was cancelled. When Allen failed to pay the initial installment of $50,000 by March 4, CAA decided to sue.

--Former Dolphins executive Bob Ackles died July 5 in Canada of a massive heart attack at age 69. Ackles was in charge of personnel for the Dolphins from 1996-2000, working for former coaches Jimmy Johnson and Dave Wannstedt. At the time of his death, Ackles was president of the British Columbia Lions of the CFL. He retired after leaving the Dolphins but was convinced to become the Lions president and CEO in 2002. "During his time in Miami, no one worked harder than he did to maintain our success. He was highly respected by everyone he worked with, both within the Dolphin organization and throughout the National Football League. Bob started every day with a smile and kept the same upbeat disposition no matter the circumstances. As someone who worked his way up the pro football ladder from the bottom, he never forgot his roots. He will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know him," Dolphins president Bryan Wiedmeier said in a statement.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "It's kind of a front. You've got to look the cavemanish part. You've got to have muscle bounds and tattoos and be able to think on the back end and have a little wit. It will take you a long way because people underestimate you." -- Dolphins fullback Boomer Grigsby on his tattoos, including his number 46 in Roman numerals XLVI; and the one on his right arm that has the words, "power, strength and valor" written in Hebrew.
