The draft reviews are in...quot
Apr. 27, 2009 (Sun Sentinel delivered by Newstex ) --

The knee-jerk reviews of the Miami Dolphins' selection in the NFL draft are in, and if you pay attention to what most of the talking heads and?draftniks are saying you'll feel like you're watching an In Living Color episode of quot;Men on Films.quot;

How did the Miami Dolphins do in?your draft?grades Mr.?Mel?McShay Mayock Jr., and Sir Blog-a-Lots of the world (I think that's going to be my new comment name)?

quot;HATED IT!quot;

Sometimes I wonder if men do have menstrual cycles because it seems like the NFL nation is having a PDS (post draft syndrome) moment.

WE ALL would get kicked out of Dan Hennings' meeting room right about now.

Notice I included myself.

After listening to Jeff Ireland justify why he did what he did over the weekend, and getting a decent (not good) night's sleep, I've concluded a couple of things.

Vontae Davis will get the same speech Bill Parcells gave Brandon London when he first arrived on the team.

quot;Son, stay out of the clubs,quot; London said, replaying that conversation to me months ago.

And Davis better stay out of trouble, which means stay off South Beach. Go to Las Olas dude.

If?NOTHING?else happens in this draft other than Davis and Sean Smith become the Dolphins next generation of Pat Surtain and Sam Madison this will be an EXCELLENT draft because that position is the second hardest to find in the NFL,?behind?only?of quarterback.

And who cares what Pat White plays, or if the Dolphins used a second-round pick on a specialist player. If?Mr. Wildcat?contributes to the Dolphins scoring six more touchdowns next season with his legs, arms, or hands, and creates a passing element to the Wildcat, he'll be the steal of the draft, and a candidate for NFL Rookie of the Year.

The one thing his addition does is stop the Dolphins from playing 10-on-11 when they get into the Wildcat formation. Chad Pennington's no longer going to be exposed out there as a decoy receiver.

One of those receivers drafted in the second round, either USC's Patrick Turner (who for the record I liked at the Senior Bowl) or Ohio State's Brian Hartline better make something of themselves in the NFL.?I don't care which one. Just do something. If Davone Bess, who wasn't even drafted last year, can outperform nearly?25 drafted receivers Mr. Turner and/or Mr. Hartline?BETTER do something worthy of paying attention to.

And finally, if anyone the Dolphins drafted past the fifth round does anything significant after they make the 53-man roster, if they make the 53-man roster, it's a bonus.

We looked forward to the draft soooooo much. Let's not hate on the new toys the Dolphins just got, especially since we haven't even taken them out of the box.

One of my scouting buddies told me his team spends roughly $5 million a year (and that's a conservative figure) scouting 300 college prospects, trying to determine if they have a future in the NFL. Sure it's a crap shoot still, but they have a better chance of predicting?if J.D. Folson will?hit?big than all of the second-guessers of the world, including those employed by a major media outlet.

We will know nothing about this draft class until?a year from now. Absolutely nothing! And we won't be able to judge it fairly until 2011.

Let us get ALL the venting out by Thursday, when your new Miami Dolphins will be landing in town and?will find themselves?searching around the web to see what their new fan base thinks of them.

Let it out!

Tell me what you liked about the draft: quot;The Dolphins took two of the top five corners. Hooray for DBs.quot; - Omar Kelly

And what you didn't like: quot;It seemed like the Dolphins missed on finding a nose tackle, and for what, a practice squad tight end? No offense John Nalbone, but you better bust some heads on special teams.quot; - Omar Kelly

And then let's MOVE ON, put a smile on our faces, and watch the newcomers compete....
